Losing weight 55 year old female

Im new to this I have reached the almost 200 mark and that scares me im at 194 and want to be at 145 but being a 55 yr old female makes it difficult, hoping I can find tips and support I want to mostly look for a healthier way to cook instead of taking liquids or pills to lose weight. Hopefully with the support of each other we can look and feel better may everyone have a Happy and Healthy 2021

I'm 59. Plenty of veggies, easy on the fats and empty carbs, watching portion sizes (with a good kitchen scale), regular exercise, and logging ruthlessly works for me2

Welcome! I started losing weight at about your size (I was 183) and age (I was 59), and was suprised to find out that with MFP it was more straightforward to lose weight with MFP than I had imagined. It wasn't easy, in a psychological sense, every single minute, but the process steps were pretty easy IME. On top of that, there were huge benefits in health, mobility, and just general daily sense of well-being. I wished I'd done it years before . . . so, good for you for being smart enough to start a little earlier than I did!
I'm now 65, hanging around here and maintaining a healthy weight (after like 3 decades of obesity before 2015 - most of my adult life).

I was 56 y.o when I started last March and weighed 223.4. I have lost 66 lbs. in that time putting me in the normal bmi range. I used MFP to set my calories, drank water, and made a point to meet my protein macro each day. Protein is very filling. I also cut out junk food. You will go through a period of cravings but after that you will find that you prefer the taste of fruits and vegetables. Move every day whether house cleaning, shopping, walking or exercising. Set short term and long term goals and set up non food rewards for when you reach them. Make a list of nonfood related activities to do when food cravings start and do them when the urge to eat strikes. Also drink water if you feel hungry. We often mistake thirst for hunger.

I'm 56 and have lost 8 and a half stone with a stone or so to go.
I log everything before I eat and weigh everything when I do.
I do not "snack", which to me means eating a bit here and nibbling a bit there because I am peckish and instead stick ridgely to the food I have pre-decided I am going to eat for the day. This is the only way for me or I will go over my calorie allowance.
When I am hungry, I drink, and I drink copious quantities of green tea, black coffee and no-added sugar squash.
I do have the very occasional treat days, and it needs to be very occasional as it puts me back about a week, but I'd honestly go mad otherwise as it allows me to have food that otherwise I do not trust myself to have in the house.
I now walk 5 miles a day but only started walking at all after 6 months of losing weight, but I was of course a lot heavier than you to start with.
So 55 is not too old nor should it make weight loss any harder than at any other time in your life. It is always going to be hard, but the reward is fantastic.

Hello, welcome. If may give some advice. First off Stick with whole foods, stay away from processed foods. Second weight all of your foods to stay within your daily calories. Third exercise everyday, even if its walking outside. Fourth stay constant everyday, it's not a diet, it's a lifestyle change. Fifth don't come down yourself if you falter, you get up and keep going, tomorrow is a new day. I'm 51 years old look at my profile picture, if I can do it, you can do. Stay strong and determined.
