Hi there! My name is Alē and I’m a soon to be 34 yr old female from north Idaho. Im 5’11 and currently 179.8lbs. I started my weight loss journey about 5 years ago when I hit the scales at 234lbs... the most I’ve ever weighed in my life.
I’ve struggled with body image and weight my whole life. I battled depression as a teenage and through most of my twenties. I am a Cervical cancer survivor, and had a full hysterectomy leaving one ovary. Recently (Sept 2020) I suffered a ruptured cyst on that line ovary that ended up sending me to the hospital for emergency surgery as I almost bled to death before they figured out what was wrong. I also have EDS, a blown right knee, and the starting stages of MS (I know, I’m a bit of a hot mess)
I lost my first 50lbs by eliminating trash from my diet and attending a 2x weekly spin class.
Now here I am, it’s 2021 and I’ve gotten nowhere in terms of my goal weight of 135-140lbs. Everything I have jiggles around under mounds of loose skin. My boobs are deflated and I’m sick of it. I’m going back to the gym and sticking to a diet.
Thus far I’ve gone to the gym 5 times since the start of the year. My goal is to schedule time for 4-5 days a week, minimum of 45 min cardio. Today I completed 45min on the elliptical and felt amazing!
I am so excited to be here and see where this journey takes me. I will do what works best for me, for my life and my body. While there’s a ton of “rules” around the proper and best way to drop weight and get fit, I choose to start with what I know I can be consistent with.
I hope to find support and friends through this! I don’t judge, I don’t care how many times you’ve fallen off the wagon, nor do I care what some meat head has to tell me about “doing it all wrong”. ANY MOVEMENT IS BETTER THAN NO MOVEMENT!!! I’m going to kick butt, and I know you will too!!!
Here’s to a fit 2021!!!

You're more than halfway to goal, sis! That's a lot better than nowhere!
You've got a great mindset helping you chug along! There are plenty of supports along the way. Like you identified, us fellow MFPers. There's also the National MS Society in the US which may have some excercise ideas (and community level support groups) for you to try.
There's some guidelines when it comes to fitness and nutrition but, ultimately, you make the rules that work for you. If you have questions along the way, let us know. But I suspect you'll teach us all a thing or two 😉2 -
As long as the amount of times you start trying again out numbers the amount of times you have given up.
In the words of John Cena: " Never give up". You got this!2 -
Your story was very touching and encouraging sorry to hear all you had to go through in your journey, but makes you strong. You are doing great and you will get to your goal! I love your positivity, and attitude towards this. Keep it up! Feel free to add me if you would like.0

Congrats on your weight loss, that's fantastic! I also love spinning. I thought my bike was going to be an expensive clothes hanger but I love it and trying to take more Tabata classes now. Sounds like you are on a great path! Feel free to add me.0
