Using weights machines in the gym

Got shown how to use these the other day and went on about 8 different ones all for different areas.
I started at with 3 reps of 10.
Any advice on the best way to get a good workout using the machines and what sort of weight I should be lifting?

I have lost 15lbs since June and also doing 40 minutes of cardio 5 times a week.

Thanks

Pick a weight high enough to reach failure on your last lift. Ie, you shouldn't be able to complete the last one.

I go around these. I do a 12 reps,10 reps,8 reps,8 reps on low weights with a short break between each set and then I go back around them again but I higher the weight.

Just find a weight that works for you for the low weight reps if you do something like it and find an higher weight for the higher reps and push to failure, some machines will be easier than others. Or just go a few kg higher from your last set.

In terms of sets I do 6-15 for upper body and 10-20 for upper body so your choice of 10 is fine. I only do 3 sets of each exercise but feel I should do 5. Training to failure is the important thing to optimise strength gains.

    Whoops. 10-20 for lower body.
