Eco-friendly or pre-packed fruit & veg in Covid?

Is it better to keep buying loose fruit & veg during the Covid lockdown, or does keeping healthy justify the purchase of plastic wrapped groceries?

Most of the data confirms that it is at least rare, if it happens at all, to contract covid-19 from surfaces. As long as you wash your produce before you eat it, I don't see how buying wrapped produce is safer pandemic-wise. Just don't touch your face until you get home and wash your hands, which would be the same if that produce was wrapped in plastic.1

I'm with @kimny72 . With proper precautions, unwrapped produce should be fine. And a side benefit: most of the e.Coli outbreaks associated with produce have come from facilities where thinga like lettuce and spinach are prepped and packaged, rather than from bulk-packed loose produce.1

I don't think it makes a difference. The fruit has the same chances of being touched as the plastic wrap. You need to sanatize both.1
