Are you suddenly eating a lot more fiber?2

honestly, sounds like maybe a bit of constipation?
I'm going to share the status I actually posted on my profile just an hour or so ago, simply because it applies to this situation, only in reverse, if you willfeel free to add me as a friend if you'd like (I generally talk more about my dogs and farm though LOL)
"I step on my scale every morning (I only log once a week, on Fridays), and unless the number is bizarrely high or low... I don't think much of it and tend to forget the number as soon as I step off the scale. this morning it was down 10 pounds from last week. I mean... I wish, but I don't think so. so I change the batteries (remind me to buy more, okay?). a bit higher, but still down SIX from just Friday.
For those of you who are new to this... there are a few possible explanations. Because no way in hell did I lose 6 pounds over the weekend. again... I wish!
#1 - it could be just a random low day. although that low is a bit out of my normal fluctuation range, it could simply be a random day.
#2 - my weight Friday was wrong. Friday could have been a random HIGH day (even though it was a pound lower than the previous week), it could have been water retention masking a bit more loss than what the scale indicated (we ate out twice last week plus TOM for me), it could have been batteries starting to go bad... any number of things could be the culprit.
#3 - the often hoped and prayed for - WHOOOSH! possible, I suppose, but with fairly consistent loss over the past few weeks... I doubt it. but possible. Very random (for me) if that is the case.
The takeaway from all this is that your scale can only record THAT EXACT MOMENT IN TIME. Be it high, or low. And that moment can be caused by any number of factors, the most common of which I touched on above. The rest of the week and my weigh in on Friday will likely answer the question of 'why was it SO VERY different than what I expected?' So when you get (and if you haven't already, it WILL happen) a number that is vastly different than what you are expecting, instead of celebrating or falling into depression.... look for reasons WHY it may be different and then give time to test those possibilities before settling for the number (be it good, or bad)."2 -
Assuming you’re weighing and logging accurately.......Soooo many potential reasons:
* if you’re a woman, your cycle
* You ate something salty (tortilla chips, ham, pizza, fast or restaurant food for example)
* You may have begun a new exercise program in your enthusiasm to do it all. Sore muscles retain water for repair-sometimes a whoooole lot of water
* Constipation
*Change of diet
* You may have put a bunch of sugar free foods in the pantry in that same enthusiasm. Some sugar substitutes can mess with your gut til you’re accustomed to them. Some, you may never get used to.
* heavy carbs can cause water retention (I’m up four pounds after a glorious cupcake-based carb blowout yesterday)
* Sleep cycle has changed
* You weighed at a different time of day
* The fickle gods of weight loss have decided to mind **** you to see if you’re man or woman enough to stick it out4 -
Five days isn’t enough to determine anything, or see a real or even permanent weight loss. Everyone’s body reacts differently. Please give yourself a month and then reevaluate if you’re not losing.
So many successful people here are invested in paying it forward and helping others succeed. Please ask if you need help establishing a plan. There is no dumb weight loss question. If you’re thinking it, someone else is lurking and wants to know, too.
You have the single best,crowd sourced, weight loss tool on the planet in the palm of your hand, if you’re willing to be patient and invest the time in learning to do it accurately and sustainably. This should be a lifetime plan, not “shed the weight and return to bad habits”.
Invest in yourself.5 -

For me it always means that someone kicked the scale and one of the feet is on a grout line instead of the tile!2 -
