Another introduction post 🙂

Hi all

Just wanted to introduce myself, too old, too neglected and have decided to try and turn over a new leaf, its been a week on IF and calorie counting, after failing at diets like exante and keto... I’m just trying to think of practical, non stressful dieting.

It’s been the first big challenge day, food shopping and the weekend, but have made it through today!

Hope everyone is doing well, I am looking to loose 170lb so would love to hear from some people with a big challenge like that.

    Welcome to MFP!

Some people find IF helpful. The main thing is to track what you eat to make sure you stay in a deficit, and find the kinds of food that make you feel full. So simple. Not a bit easy.

Then there's that ugly thing in the corner, at least at my house. It's stress or emotional eating. Even when I'm not hungry. First step is notice it, and then try to vanquish it.

What are your short term goals?

That 170 pounds is a big long-term one. Some people say it's a marathon and not a sprint. To be honest, it's not even a marathon or even an ultra. It's a change in the way we live every day. I'm sure you didn't put the weight on over just one year, so take your time to make small successes to get to that big goal.

How did the food shopping go?

Hi Mtara, thanks for the reply, its definitely a marathon, I didn’t get to this position in a couple of months.

Short term- to get into a routine of eating to a schedule, especially now I am at home working permanently and not in the office. And to cut out caffeine, especially carbonated drinks like diet coke.

Food shopping went well, just bought what was on the list and avoided the snack areas! I’m an indulger, especially when I am bored or fed up... never been one for tucking into fried food etc, but can eat my way through a tub of pringles!

Thanks for the motivating words, much appreciated

Remember; it's your decision every moment. It's much longer than a marathon. Those actually have finish lines. This is going to be building a better lifestyle to support the rest of your long healthy life.

Just start with small changes. Weighing and tracking your food to get an idea of what you're currently eating each day, then slowly start cutting things out, like sugary drinks. Its baby steps and a mind game alot of the time. You can do this!
