Starting today. Goal is to drop 120lbs, anyone else?

I had a baby in 2019 and went from 150lbs to 272lbs. I keep telling myself I'll get out of this rut but here I am 2 years after having a baby and I'm still here. I want to love myself and show my little one that self care and taking care of ourselves is important.

I'm starting CICO and mild/moderate exercise and will increase as I go along. I honestly don't even know where to start with exercise (gym isn't an option due to lack of childcare).

I'm honestly just scared. I had some genetic testing done and I have increased odds of having diabetes, coronary artery disease and some other things. I know it's going to be really hard to get to my goal and I'm worried I'll lose focus and find my way back here, to this damn rut. I want to be healthy for myself and for my child.

If there's anyone else who is trying to lose a lot of weight like me, or anyone who feels the same as I do I'd love to connect. I'm lost and could use a friend :)

Hi! Welcome to MFP! You're here, and you're ready for a change, that's wonderful :)
There is plenty of amazing advice on the forums, each topic has some "most helpful posts" threads, and if you have time (I'm sure life is busy with a 2 year old!) they are really great to read.
It's intimidating to start, but you can do this! Just take it little bit by little bit!

Hey!!! Same boat! Had a baby in Nov 2017 and am currently 235 after losing 55 pounds. Honestly, I'd like to lose another 100 but could be decently happy at 170. I'm 5'7! I'd like to keep you accountable! You do the same?
