I just want to say THANK YOU!

Before I came here I was trying another app and community board and it was very frustrating. I am very pro ALL foods, and for weight-loss even ALL foods in a reasonable calorie deficit. I felt really alone there and almost not liked lol (not that I cared) because I gosh forbid- eat sugar from both fruit and some table sugar , and am not afraid to enjoy carbs or go out for a cheeseburger while gasp! Losing weight! And I AM losing weight- meanwhile everyone else is comparing how clean and healthy their plates are shaming teens for not having enough veggies on their plate and maybe cut out the frozen fries that were air fried with zero oil (inset eye roll)

I mean I’m sure we have very tidy clean eaters here too, and if that’s you I applaud you however I’m really happy to see such a variety of people who just generally just want to exercise happily and eat for goals that are maintainable for life. It’s refreshing.

Happy Monday- looking forward to a beautiful week with you!

Glad you’re here. I’ve found everyone here to be very encouraging and supportive. I’m sure you will also.

I agree. No judgements. Everyone needs to eat what works for them, without being criticized for their choices.

Welcome! There’s a lot of wonderful people here, you’ll see.

I started on an elimination diet recommended by my doctor, which - while very effective- perpetuated the myth in my head that “diets” should be restrictive and punishing.

Finding out via MFP and all the lovely forum folks that it was simply CICO was a revelation.

    A life changing one.

I too have learned a lot from these forums.

In the past, I restricted certain foods or food groups. Not surprisingly, I didn't stick to those diets for any length of time and any weight that was lost just came back again. Using MFP, I don't deprive myself - and have read over and over that that's true for many others. Sure, there are some things I eat less of / less frequently than I did before, but I still eat pretty much the same meals, it's just that I'll put less pasta in the pan or fewer potatoes or a smaller portion of rice on my plate and add a bit more veg instead. I still eat pasta and potatoes and rice though. I still eat cake, sometimes. I definitely still eat chocolate. It's just that all these things fit my calorie goal for the day / week because I can control my eating habits to ensure there's space for such things.

It's far easier to stick to a diet when you like the food.
