Shoes and orthotics

If you know you're goimg to need qnvorthotic (in my case for metatarsalals) is there rrally much point in buying the top of the line shoes? I never run but i do walk a lot (training to walk 20 miles)
My arches are fine everything is good but that pain around my toes that gets worse and worse the longer i go if i don't have the correct prthptic. So, since im replacing one of the most most important parts can i buy a cheaper model of a brand name brand shoe that fits

Have you gone to a podiatrist to get an understanding if you have a wide toe spread? I usually have to buy WIDE shoes. If I get regular ones, my toes scrunch together and it gets uncomfortable.

I have custom orthotics due to an issue with my posterior tendon. However, I still buy shoes from a running store, even though I only walk (and not run). I know it's difficult to spend the money though as good shoes are expensive. Personally, I see some great benefits from investing in good shoes.

I wear custom orthotics, put them in cheap shoes to walk. They are stiff, so I can’t wear them to jog, run, lots of exercises.
I wear Reebok to exercise. Don’t run.
