Anyone else getting friend requests from people with near-porn as their profile pics?

I've gotten four friend requests this week from profiles that were all created in 2014, with young women in various states of undress / come hither type poses and looks and so forth. I approved one so that people can see what I'm talking about.

Anyone know what's up with this? Some online porn spammer created accounts seven years ago and then waited like the cicadas to strike in 2021?

    Yes, new rash of them. The MFP staff are playing whack-a-mole with them in various ways. Report them when you see them (via the Help function will work, for one way).

    It looks like someone compromising dormant older accounts, perhaps with intent to further scam folks later.

    Me too! Guess they want attention. Choose your friends wisely otherwise I just delete and wait for genuine people. Of course, anything on line can be suspect.

    I have gotten two in 4 days. Reported the first saturday. Nothing from MFP. Account still active and no reply to the report. Reported the second today and reminded them about the first.

    I've been noticing an uptick in friend requests lately, but the avatars are kinda small on my cell phone. Thats what I get for not paying enough attention...sounds like I missed out on the excitement! 😆

    Yes, I've rec'd more FR lately too, but I base whether or not to accept on if there's a message (no) and if I recognize them from the forums (no) and didn't notice the pictures before I deleted them.

    Yeah, I've been getting a ton lately, which cracks me up, considering I'm not that active on the forums anymore, so it's not like they're just seeing me and clicking to friend. I just delete them as I get them.
