Hi everyone, hope your all safe and well. I’m just looking for some advice really and to share my first month of calorie counting and exercising. So I was getting really fed up with my appearance and my weight, as it had all plummeted whilst being in lockdown. So I decided to start eating better, watching what I eat and ensuring I do some form of exercise every week. So Iv stuck to this for a month now and been going for a 90 minute walk 4 days a week, and the below is my weigh ins each week:
Week 1 - 12st 8lbs
Week 2 - 12st 4lbs
Week 3 - 12st 9 lbs
Week 4 - 12st 7 lbs
I just wanted to know if this was normal, as one week I lost 4 lbs, the next I was heavier than when I started (and I didn’t do anything different that week to cause the gain) and now I’m just under what I started. So I’m unsure as to whether I’m even losing weight or not as it’s changing every week? Has anyone else experienced this and will be start to steady a bit so I can see clearer results ? Thank you !

Are you staying within your calorie limit everyday? Do you use a digital food scale and weigh and measure all your food and drink? You need a calorie deficit and then a lot of patience. If you are female water weight fluctuates, so you need good data over time. Keep going. Best.0

did you have your period week 3?0 -
Hey! I have similar starting numbers to you - and a similar weight pattern to begin with.
I'd absolutely echo tracking using a food scale... but would also say...
A lot of that weight increase will be water weight as your muscles repair after being used more than normal.
Your body is also gonna fluctuate regularly due to sodium intake, undigested food, totm or just 'because'.
The arguments come in thick and fast around exercise calories... some say eat half, some say eat all... I personally (and ymmv) eat them all... but I'm sedentary according to mfp, and track using my fitbit. I'm walking around 7 miles a day in two intentional blocks, plus vigorous yoga. I started eating all my calories and my plateau stopped - and if anything I'm losing too fast (1.5lbs per week at present)... so
Give it time
Track everything
Check out those extra calories
And give it time!
