Hiking Mount Lukens #6/18

So I’m continuing my personal 18 peak challenge and today I hiked Mount Lukens in the Angeles National Forest. At 5075 ft, this is the highest point in the city limits of Los Angeles. The mountain is named after Theodore Lukens the former supervisor of the Angeles National Forest and former mayor of Pasadena.

I chose the Angeles Crest Ranger station to start which is a 14.7 mile out/back on a nice fire road. It was colder starting out and the winds picked up towards the summit but it warmed up on the way down. Not the most exciting hike but great views of the San Gabriel Mountains and greater Los Angela’s area. Just wish they didn’t put all the antennas up on the peak.
