How often do you replace a fitness mat?

Back in august I bought a fitness mat and I already feel it needs to be replaced as it doesn't give me much support and it's quite damaged at some places. It's my first fitness mat and I wonder what's normal for fitness mats that are used multiple times a week and usually without shoes. It's a more thick fitness mat of 1,5cm because a thinner one makes my back hurt.

It's going to vary wildly on the quality. A good gym/professional quality one used in a home probably 5-10 years at least.

One from the clearance shelf at the supercenter much shorter lifespan.

When it stinks like a Trash can on a hot humid day with a dead squirrel in it... :expressionless:

I've had mine for years...is it like a yoga mat, or something else?

I've had a thicker fitness mat for 10 years or so which only has minimal signs of wear. Brand is Airex. This is my main mat because my back and knees like the padding.

I also have yoga mats. They have never worn out. I have known yogis who wore out yoga mats, but they were hard-core Ashtangis who did lots of jumping back and forth.

Totally depends on use and quality of mat.
