Bioidentical hormone therapy for pcos

Has anyone taken bioidentical hormones to address pcos? How did you feel during and after treatment? I'm considering it, but am worried about what will happen once I finish therapy. My doctor says I won't need it forever, it's just to reset my body. He recommended a 6 month plan and then maintenance. My estradiol and progesterone levels are low. Any advice is appreciated. Thanks!

I've taken Prometrium, a bioidentical progesterone, off and on for the past 20 years, for various issues other than PCOS. I've been very happy with it. I've had no adverse effects during or after stopping, it does help regulate my cycle, and I think it helps me sleep better as well. (I take it at bedtime.)

I have no experience with bioidentical estrogen.

they tried this for me but it was a very long time ago. it was terrible only i didnt know what was happening because is wasnt aware it was from the hormones. thank goodness i had a moment of clarity and called my doctor and when i told her what was happening she told me to stop taking it immediately. it effected me terrible. i was having psychotics thoughts. i was on the verge of a break down constantly and believed everyone around me was going to die. i also had the worst period cramps you could imagine. so bad they would double me over and it honestly felt like labor pains. losing weight is the best way to combat pcos. i lost 126 pounds doing low carb over 12 years ago and have kept it off...which for pcos...its kinda what you just need to accept...low carb. if i start to introduce carbs back into my diet, my pcos flares back up.

Thank you both @kshama2001 @peggy_polenta for your input. I was on birth control for years, and it helped manage my symptoms but I want to treat the cause. I’ve lost about 25 over the past year, but cannot seem to lose more. I’m also experiencing sleep issues since stopping birth control. I’ll give it a try and see if it helps me. I hope it does!
