My stomach

My stomach is 45 inches and I'm a 31 year old male that is 5ft 10inches. My question is how much weight will I have to lose to shave off 3 inches off my stomach?

How much do you weigh now?

There's no set rate of fat loss from different parts of the body. We store fat in different ways, so it will be impossible for anyone to predict when you will be three inches smaller there.

There's not a hard and fast rule for equating pounds to inches as we all lose weight in different places. I'm also curious why 3" is your goal? There is some science that suggests the ratio of waist circumference to height is an even better indicator to predict cardiovascular disease and diabetes than BMI and states there's elevated risk when that ratio is 0.50 or higher. There's little difference for risk factors were you to change your waist from 45" to 42"; 35" would be the top end of "OK" via this calculator:

Genetics will dictate that. You could lose 30lbs with most of the weight coming off your arms, legs and upper torso, but only an inch off your waist.

No telling. I lost a good 40 lbs total...I didn't start seeing any particular difference in my mid section until I was 20 Lbs down, and even then it was pretty minimal. My last 10 Lbs was the most significant difference. The midsection unfortunately for most males is primary fat stores and kind of a first on, last off proposition.
