I thought this might be a fun exercise for a lot of us seeing as how we all struggle from time to time; we all have days where nothing is going right or life is piling up stressors faster than you can stack a Jenga tower. I know I could use more forethought into thinking about things I am grateful exist, people who are special, small acts of kindness, etc.
I'm sure this thread has been done before, but I can't find it and I'm not digging up 20 years worth of threads to find it.
So if you can think of something, big or small you have gratitude toward, you can post it in here.

I'll start. I am grateful for:
- The fruit roll ups and deer jerky my father made me and brought all the way here when they visited a few weeks ago.
- The fact that they visited, despite my step-mother's condition. I'm worried about her, but I loved that I got to see them.
- My cats; yes they aren't my original duo, but they are delight to watch (most of the time) and bring warmth to our family.
- Having a child with a wild imagination. He comes up with some great stories, way better than I could ever come up with.

- Days where it's not too hot and not too cold. Especially if those days are overcast and not sunny.

I am grateful for all the amazing support I have, both irl and online. Most people are awesome and I am privileged to know a fraction of them8

My best friend, she's always there to cheer me up when I need it. We talked on the phone for over 1 hour and I'm ok now. 😊6

This is an important thread.
Everyone wants to be happy, right?
I'd wager that true happiness isn't achievable without a strong measure of gratitude.11 -

- I have gratitude toward my dentist and the hygienists who have worked on my teeth over the last year. Also, very grateful they were able to pencil me in tomorrow to look at why I have sudden persistent sensitivity in one of my canines (or a tooth immediately next to it). Fingers crossed it isn't serious (like a root canal).

I am thankful for all of youuuuuuuuu!!
I am thankful for family time!!
I am thankful for today and all it has to offer!!!

- I am grateful (currently) that I was not automatically told I have to have a root canal, but am sad that we did not discover the reason I have sensitivity across several teeth. There is a problematic tooth with high pain sensitivity to cold, but we're watching it as x-rays did not indicate that it was dead or dying and it doesn't hurt outside of extremely cold things being run across it or biting on it in a specific way.

This week, I'm grateful that daylight savings time kicked in because the darkness was REALLY getting to me this winter.7
-
- I am grateful today that most of the items I ordered for my son's Easter basket/egg hunt arrived on time. Especially because gifts I ordered for my husband for his birthday never arrived (from the same company) and I had to request refunds or cancel orders outright for never shipping.

1) I'm grateful for legs that transport me around, grateful they're getting stronger each day as I stretch the amount of time I spend simply walking: grateful for the body that continues to serve me after 6-1/2 decades. Therefore, I resolve to take better care of it.
2) I'm grateful for this beautiful planet and my little teeny tiny corner of it where I can get out and see the wonder of nature; grateful for fresh air.
3) I'm grateful that politics and pandemic is not consuming the news cycle or my thoughts 24/7; grateful to have survived 2020, a year from hell, and grateful to be vaccinated.
4) I'm grateful for podcasts and the little bluetooth speaker thingy which my daughter gave me so that I can listen while I walk instead of using earplugs which bother my ears.
5) I'm grateful for libraries, good books and film and puzzles and the work of really fine craftsmen and artists.
6) I'm grateful that my 68 year old Singer sewing machine never breaks and that my car always starts.
7) I'm grateful for tasty food, clean water and a roof over my head.
8) I'm grateful that random strangers on MFP are more friendly and helpful than those on FB, etc.
9) I'm grateful for pets, a few good friends and most of my enormous family.
10) I'm grateful I made this list to remind me.8 -

This morning I'm grateful for:
- the sun breaking through after several days of rain and drear
- just the RIGHT amount of sugar-free syrup in my favorite local coffee joint's brew
- the funky smell of spring onions as I cut across the unmown grass to my office

The ability to use visualization to finish today's round of 500 KB swings.
It's something I tried on the fly (hmm, swing? 🤔) but will now research to see if there's any evidence-based tips I can leverage for better results.2 -
* Grateful for a good, action-y thunderstorm.2

- Grateful when new recipes turn out or when recipes don't work out as written, but I am knowledgeable enough to salvage what's there to make an excellent meal.
- Furry companions. Some days are really bad and the love of a family member with fur goes a long way when sometimes, interaction with other humans just won't do, even those I care about immensely.
- The brilliance of seeing two foxes on my walk last night. Gorgeous creatures. Happy to see them anytime.

I’m grateful for an awesome workout at the gym this morning. Time together with my two youngest out doing things. Seeing places packed and busy again. A son who drives and can pick them up pizza. Time alone. The sunshine today. Lessons learned from crappy situations and the fact that although it’s taking me longer than I’d like it’s getting easier. Exciting things happening in the near future.6

Spending yesterday afternoon with my son who wanted to go to the botanical gardens attraction...with his mother. The best part was his genuine, heartwarming and reasoned "thank you" on the ride back home 🥰7
-
- My Twin Peaks watching party. We have a good ol' time, even though we do it online. It's a lot of fun.

- Grateful my father managed to get my stepmother back in the hospital. She's very anti-drug/medication, but she's in middle of battling cancer, so... they found out that it's not a blockage and the cancer isn't rapidly growing right now as we feared, but.. she has a lot of fluid around her stomach and her kidneys are struggling due to her not eating much (everything tastes gross because of the chemo). So her sodium levels are messed up, she's not getting enough protein, etc. So she has to hang out with my dad in the hospital for the week.

I'm grateful for my kids. When I'm feeling scared and worried they're my reminder that I have to keep my head up and never let myself go back to the dark places I've been. ❤5

I recommend some THC. Helped my cousin with her chemo treatments!! Don't know if y'all live where it is legal. Maybe find some eatables or cbd gummies even!! Might help!!!!!!!!0 -
- I guess I have major gratitude for my dad and stepmother visiting during my birthday in late Feb./early March. It may be the last time I see my stepmother as she was recently given a "two month" diagnosis by her care team because she's not improving, there is no treatment that will touch her cancer and she still isn't eating much (all food tastes terrible despite her having stopped chemo in Feb.) They are trying to get her stable enough to release her to home care, but that's just therapy and palliative care now. I'm stuck in limbo, unable to move because the military still hasn't handed down a date for when we can move, so I can't plan anything and don't want to leave my husband to take care of a move and our son on his own. If it gets really bad and her nurses insist I return home, I will, but it's hard to do with so much up in the air.
- On that note, grateful I currently have enough money to be able to afford to go home on a whim right now should that be a decision I have to make.
