The Food Doctor brand

Does anyone know if the food doctor still does pitta breads.

I have a sad feeling they don't, I used to be able to buy from tesco, but they are out of stock and the food doctor website doesn't have them available to order...but they never had them available to order online anyway, so that doesn't really tell me much.


I have emailed and will get a definitive answer when they reply, but is there anyone in the U.K. who are still buying, or seen them for sale?

Hi, a replacement would be superb if possible.

Well, i have type 2 diabetes and have turned my diet around, used to be all refined, processed, high fat high salt crap, bread was a large part of that.

Bergen soya and linseed is ok too, and is available, but with a pitta you can cut in have and make a sandwich, whereas the bergen i can only have 1 slice really...and the pittas were really tasty, nutritious and satisfying.

But, every now and again I crave a sandwich and those pittas where great for not spiking my blood glucose... I would freeze them and only have like 1 every week or 2 weeks, just when the craving hit but like i mentioned, it is looking like they have been discontinued.

Anyway, these are the ones in question:

I have thought about maybe a wrap or other types of pitta but they all (at least the ones i have found so far) seem to be pretty refined and have no seeds etc mixed in...which i believe the fats in that helps to slow the release of the glucose from the starchy carb element (flour)

So you are looking for a seedy, low GL pitta bread that freezes well. I am guessing that the lower the GL the better, (slower absorption rate to reduce the insulin spike).

I'll keep my eyes peeled for you. It can be really annoying when something you like suddenly disappears. Hopefully they'll come back, not too 'improved'

EDIT: they are still available in Tesco's online..... there is hope.

Yes, seeded, nutted..whatever, and absolutely re as low a gi as poss...in bread terms.


OMG they are definitely still available for you at tesco online? It must just be my local store that has stopped doing them (a month or two the product page just says not currently available.


I will try out a few stores a little further afield and see if i can find them.
