New Clothes?!?

Just curious as to when you decide it’s time to buy new clothes. I like to say I’m “in between sizes”, but at what point do you leave the larger size behind and commit to a smaller size? Is there a time period you wait to see “just in case”? My pants seem “fine”, but EXTRA baggy in the legs. My shirts look “oversized” and I’m at the point where the smaller size that I’ve held on to are comfortable again and the larger size I wear as a “security blanket” are getting annoying. My jeans are constantly slipping down and I can put them on and off without unbuttoning or zipping them. I’m also afraid to commit to buying the next size from the smaller size Bc I fear I won’t make it there. I’ve been on this journey for a year now and 70 lbs (and a whole lot more to go) down, and I still don’t see any significant changes. I do take measurements to keep me in check, but sometimes, I’d like to “feel” and LOOK like I’ve made progress. Am I alone? Any advice? Talk to me!

Also 70 lbs. down here with at least 30 to go. I'm in the same place. Everything is loose and I am able to slip pants on and off without undoing them. I am reluctant to donate my nicer too-large clothes and I don't want to spend a lot of smaller clothes that I may only need for a few months.
Also, the clothes that fit on the way up don't fit the same on the way down. Thanks to exercise, my thighs are much thinner and jeans I once wore at the same weight now billow out at the thigh. Were it not for COVID - I would be haunting the thrift stores and sales racks for a few reasonably priced basics.
Once I lose a little more weight, I may try to order a black pair of trousers with a wee bit of stretch from an online vendor with a good return policy.

I've been up and down so many times, I have jeans ranging in sizes from 6-16 in storage(finally got brave enough to donate my 18-20).
Losing 70# is a lot!! @MsCzar has a good idea of shopping thrift stores, just for exploring and maybe even buying a couple smaller sized things. Depending on your area and the risk of Covid, I'd take that chance, especially if everything's bagging on you. I say wear the smaller sizes and shop around for economically feasible choices for now. Good luck and congratulations!!1 -
I bought new clothes once my bigger clothes didn't fit. Nothing looks worse than clothes that don't fit...either too big or too small isn't a good look. I completely got rid of my XL shirts and 38 pants. I kept a few pairs of my 36 pants and jeans for winter. When I'm at my maintenance weight I'm in between a 32 and 34 so I just wear the 34...they're a bit loose in the waist, but leave me a bit more room in my thighs and rear. I have a hard time with a 32 because technically they will fit my waste perfectly, but I have a bubble butt and they don't cut men's pants or jeans for that really...so it's a weird fit and really tight in the back and on my thighs.1

I hung on to my too big clothes for too long. My aunt had to convince me to go shopping with her and get rid of my favorite khaki shorts kept on with a sinched belt! I had only purchased one outfit before this shopping trip, and had gone from 10 to 6. I was surprised to find myself getting 2s that day! I saved a lot of my big clothes, then let family and friends pick through them. It's fun to let others benefit from what we no longer need or use.1

Well, I just ordered three pairs of slip-on trousers in black and grey. I usually don't wear slip-on pants, but since I prefer longer tops and jackets, I thought these might see me through until summer proper. I am hoping they could span XL-L until it feels safe to hit the shops and try on.1
