49 in Jan.. metabolism hit the door & took estrogen with it

I had no energy for almost a year. Knee pain and swelling. Went to the endocrinologist. Said I had NO testosterone and prescribed Testim gel, and took me off oral estrogen and put me on the patch. Within 48 hours I had energy I had not had in over a year. The swelling in my body started going down. I still had knee pain. I am starting to slowly work out again and look forward to feeling better. Would love support with other women going through the Big M and hitting the big 5-0~!

Bumping this. Peri-menopause is rapidly sliding to menopause for this gal. I recently starting using a cream estrogen and progesterone supplement to help with the hot flashes, but my doctor also prescribed testosterone, since my levels were in the toilet. Since I started all treatments at approximately the same time a couple of weeks ago, I am not sure which is causing this, but I rapidly gained back the 5 lbs I had worked so hard to get rid of  I know it's got to be water weight, because it happened the same week I started the therapies. I am hoping it will calm down if I just stick to it. I definitely feel SO much better with the therapies, and my body fat (18%) hasn't changed. But the scale sure has, I feel bloated, and my clothes aren't fitting.

Any other peri/post women out there in the same boat?

It sounds so familiar. I am 49 and have been irritable with hot flashes and low energy for quite a while. Over the summer I gained extra pounds (just on the hips, muffin tops, and the pooch. I have never had problems losing weight, but those pounds stick like crazy glue.
My doc put me on the cmbipatch. My mood is better, my hot flashes are better but it does not seem to help with the weight. To the contrary I feel bloated.
Please feel free to add me.
