Coffee, tea, & sugar

So I love my morning coffee! I also drink diet soda or Tea every day.
Coffee- I usually add a splash of milk and 2tbsp of sugar. (16oz or so cup)
Tea- i usually get unsweetened tea & add my own sugar.
What is better to use to sweeten these drinks? Sugar or a sweetener like “equal or sweet n low”??
Also if I’m going to have an after noon caffeine - tea or diet soda better?
Lastly- milk, powdered or liquid creamer?
Obviously I know cutting them all out is ideal but I’m not there yet.

If you like sugar, then have the sugar, but just be sure to count the calories, as you should with the milk.
If you want to save yourself some calories, then the artificial sweeteners are fine if you like the taste.
I'm not sure what a vaccine has to do with either, but just drink what you like. None of it is "bad" and you don't have to cut any of them out.3 -
OK, there are two different approaches. You can use sweeteners and experiment to find one you like, or you can start cutting to get as low on real sugar as you can. I did the second. I started drinking my coffee with just milk. It took awhile, but it's just fine now. Some suggest to cut down slowly, a little more every week. Others just go with the sugar and choose to cut calories on something else. That's the beauty of it--you choose how you want to do this. Good luck.3

Oh, haha, that makes more sense.
I'll add that, like Snowflake said, if you do want to reduce your sugar, you can do it gradually.
I never put sugar in my coffee, but I did like cream. To save calories, I started reducing the amount I used a little at a time, then eventually switched to milk.1 -
Cashew milk (the Silk 25cal makes a nice cup)
Low fat half and half (20-25 cal per 30gr, depending on brand)
Skim milk
Jordan’s Skinny Syrups are zero cal and come in a bazillion flavors2 -
I use half and half in coffee and honey in tea and don't plan on stopping either. I do measure and log both using a food scale for accuracy.2

Did the original question accidentally say " Also if I’m going to have an after noon vaccine - tea or diet soda better?"
oh that is a funny typo
Seriously though - I dont see why it is ideal to cut out milk or sugar.
If you want your coffee with milk and/or sugar, then do so - obviously counting the calories.
But unless you are drinking very large amounts, a couple of cups per day with regular amount of milk and one tsp sugar is really not going to be hard to fit into your calorie budget.
Sure ,experiment with artificial sweeteners etc if you want - but at end of day, dont force yourself to drink your coffee in a way that you do not like,1 -
I drink tea without any sweetener but I don't use the strong flavored teas that would need a bit of sweetener.
Otherwise, in the winter I drink espresso with approximately 1/2 tsp of sugar or maple syrup. I actually prefer the maple syrup. It takes the edge off of the strong flavor but isn't too sweet like the sugar. From spring to autumn I prefer to drink my espresso iced. I let it cool off slightly and poor it over ice. It melts a little but is still strong flavored which is how I like it and no longer needs any sweetening. Perhaps that would work for others.
I've never found the zero calorie sweeteners satisfactory. Flavor is always too sweet or otherwise off. However, saying all that I see no reason not to add sweetener or cream unless you drink so much of it that it ends up as significant calories for you. Or you have a health reason to not consume sugar.0 -
I think it's best to drink what you like. I just mean -- don't force yourself to use artificial sweeteners if you don't like them....just use sugar and log those calories.
I think the best way to do things is in a way that can be maintained for the rest of your life --- not just while you're losing weight. If you can't maintain it, then it's very easy to get to your goal weight and then go back to bad habits.0 -

There is nothing inherently unhealthy about anything you've listed. Coffee and tea are actually high in antioxidants and other nutrients. There's nothing inherently unhealthy about milk...I drink milk all the time. Same for sugar...but I'd say 2 Tbsp of sugar in a coffee is quite a lot.
I generally take my coffee black though I do on occasion have a splash of heavy cream if we happen to have some in the house that we were using for something else. I drink quite a bit of tea throughout the afternoon and evening as well, and I'm no worse for the wear. I also don't put anything in my tea, unless it's chai or english or irish breakfast tea in which case I have a splash of milk...0 -
This is OT, but I’ve been trying to teach myself to like coffee for the past few weeks. Amazon recommended an Aeropress. Can I just say, what a brilliant piece of engineering? And it makes really good coffee in seconds, with little cleanup.
The ikea coffee I got when I bought a French press (which shattered in my hand on the second use) has also been surprisingly good.0 -

I prefer cold brew, but when we switched to a percolator from a regular drip machine my husband said the difference in taste was amazing. He still uses half and half, too, but less, simply because the coffee tasted so much better.0
