Ack! Peeling feet from running barefoot

Am I screwed? Dammit. I've been running/speed walking the beach this summer like I always do, but a month ago, my feet got messed up with blood blisters, cuts and I thought callouses (the latter, I wanted). Today having returned from a great speed walk at the beach, I wondered what was stuck to the bottom of my feet. Big, chunks of thick skin. I don't gross out too easily, but this is so gross. It's thicker than box sealing tape, and the new skin hurts. So I'll take it easy today, but does that mean no beach? No running? Even with shoes? Or can I just ignore this? Thank you in advance.

Thank you Dav, even tho that's not what I wanted to hear. I appreciate the input.
Too bad we're not on chit chat so I can say something about your profile pic. :bigsmile:0 -

Probably nothing to worry about. I ran barefoot for a while on pavement and all the skin on my heel peeled off. I didn't cause any problems. i figured it just got rid of all the extra skin callous caused by friction in the shoe.0

Thank you Scott. I'm not particularly worried. I'm just hoping I can still run/walk with this mess.0

Doesn't hurt to get it checked out. So you have a thick layer of skin that has nearly completely peeled off, but you still have some fresh (albeit tender) skin underneath? It is not raw and oozing?
I would say if it isn't oozing / bleeding and it doesn't hurt to run, you can do so slowly. I would stop if it hurts though. See a derm or a podiatrist.0 -
Thank you Fleetzz That sounds like the perfect plan. No oozing. I will try with all my might to stay away from the beach tomorrow, but it's the last week of school vacation *tears.* Maybe I'll put ace bandages on to keep the sand out. Abd if my kid gets mouthy, I'll put fuzzy slippers on. Ha!0
