Runtastic App Accuracy?

I ran a 5k last night just to see how well I could do it. It wasn't a measured course just around the neighborhood. While I was doing it I had two apps up. The first one was my RunDouble Bridge to 10k trainer and the second was Runtastic. When Runtastic said I had gone 3.1 miles RunDouble had me at 3.8 miles. Annoying at best.
To add to the confusion when I go into Runtastic on the computer and re-map my route for the 5k it gives me a different distance. This one sits closer to the Run Double measurements. Has anyone else noticed this problem? What do ya'll use to measure your runs?
I only use Runtastic to keep track of statistics so if those statistics are wrong then there isn't much point in keeping the app on my phone.
