I got into Tai Chi Feb 1979, that's over 42 years ago. My first form style was Yang 37 by Cheng Man Ching, took 3 months to learn then learn a mirror version of the form another 3 months.
Tai Chi also has weapon forms, Tai Chi sword and sabre. the form is done with the 2.5lb weapon in the right hand then learn the same form mirrored with the left.
I went on to learn other sets and partner practice doing push-hands and a little free style.
Later I went on to learn Wu style 108 form and Chen style 57, after 10 years of practicing the Chen style I dropped it but still do my other forms.
Aother arts I've done are 4 years of Aikido and Kenjutsu which includes wood weapon training with partners, bokken, jo staff and tanto's. A few months did Russian Systema.
