Recovering from surgery and exercise

My fitness trainer (who I used to get ready for ankle fusion surgery) recommend MFP and I love it. Have only been using it for a week. However I can't exercise yet as I am only just allowed to start weight bearing 8 weeks after surgery. I am cleared to go to the gym again but just biking, and upper body. No pool work and no treadmill/cross trainer.

Will MFP work if I am unable to do much exercise? I don't walk about too much because it does hurt my ankle and it tends to swell up. I'm a teacher so the kids are just coming to my desk!

The calorie tracking on MFP works fine without exercise. You just won't be able to eat as much since you are burning fewer calories during the day
  • yeah it'll work. Like Scott said, you'll be burning fewer cals, BUT your body will also be using some extra cals to heal from surgery. I can't even begin to guess at the number. Eat lots of protein for better healing, and follow your surgeon's advice to the letter.

    Good luck!
