Anyone else get stuck at a weight?

I have been using my fitness pal for 2 months now and follow it quite strictly. I use 1750 calories a day (as recommendedby my GP), walk at least 10,000 steps at 5ft 3in. I started at 12 stone 13 and lost 12lbs in the first 5 weeks. Since then I have gone up and done the same 5lbs! I am not doing anything differently, am making sure I use my calories for more protein and veg rather than chocolate and sweets. I am getting really frustrated with it! Any help gratefully received!

Successful and lasting weight loss is mostly about problem solving and persistence. The initial weight loss high kinda reminds me of falling in love. The real issue is what happens when that high wears off? Now what’s life going to be day to day?

If I read your post right you’re down at least 12 lbs in 2 months. That’s very good. But a thing about a weight loss plan is that it needs constant adjusting and tinkering. You don’t say in your post but do you use a food scale to crunch the numbers and keep a food diary? Just wondering how tight your count is. A lot of people resist a food scale but it can make a big difference.

If you’re satisfied that you’re counting is on the mark maybe get with your Dr and look at your calorie target. Look at the MFP calculator and see what your maintenance number is for your current weight and the target to lose .5 lbs per week. Your brain may be screaming that .5 lbs would be too slow. But not much changes at goal weight if we want to stay there. Nothing is gained by trying to lose weight fast. Slow and steady is better.

I’m not suggesting that you act other than advised by your Dr. But the fact is we lose weight eating in a calorie deficit. As we lose weight the targets need to be moved down. Might be helpful to know the MFP targets. Keep trying. The only way to fail is quit.

Thanks for your answers. I have checked out the TDEE calculator and gave reduced to 1650 calories for the last week and a half.
I do weigh and measure everything that I eat so I am confident that I am counting my intake correctly.
I measured around my stomach & bust a few weeks ago and, although the scales have remained the same, I have lost 1 inch from my bust and 3 off my stomach 🤷‍♀️

I have spent 20 years in the depths of diet culture and different groups such as Slimming World, Weight Watchers and Slim Fast to name a few. In the past, the scales staying the same for a week would have sent me into a binge so I am quite proud I gave stuck with it. I just need to work on the number on the scales not defining my progress!

    You're right, that's a win!

It's not all that unusual for folks to see some solid loss at first, then seem to stabilize for a bit, as water weight rebalances among other things. If you have some inches dropping, that seems like an even higher potential to be at least part of the explanation. An important success skill, IMO, is sticking it out through pseudo-plateaus, for long enough to see if it's actually a plateau (monitor for a full monthly cycle, at least, so you're comparing weights at the same relative point in hormonal cycle).

Losing any meaningful amount of weight is a long game, not a matter of instant results. Hang in there: Patience, monitoring, and incremental adjustments are good strategies!

I've been stuck at 185ish since November because I took a "relax the rules for Thanksgiving" break all the way into freakin' May. No breaks! Just stick solid to your plan.

Sounds like a good Thanksgiving! It is so hard to relax for a few days and then get back onto a plan.
I would feel better if I hadn't of been tracking everything and not having any 'cheat' mouthfuls. I know I feel better and have lost inches but that Slimming World/Weight watchers member keeps creeping back in telling me the scales need to change 🙈😔
