I find a lot of the stuff posted on here is inaccurate like yogurts and sugar

The database is crowd-sourced, international, and has been accumulating entries over a very long time period. Not everyone enters data correctly. Some people enter data that's correct in their country, but incorrect in mine, because the same-named food product can have different formulations in different countries. Some food products change their formulations over time ("New! Improved!") so the calories and nutrients change, but the old entries are still in the MFP database.
Solution: Pick correct entries. Invest a little effort in that initially, then correct entries for things you eat frequently will be in your recent/frequent foods, come up first when you search.5 -
I pick as close as I can get to acurate and add things I haven't eaten with 20-40calories to make up for it being under I double check everything.0
