5 weeks to firm up.. will this help?

Just want some opinions... I'm the type of person that CANNOT stay motivated with workouts! Plus I'm going to be really busy in the next 5 weeks, we are moving soon! So I was just wondering if anyone thinks if the do the following for the next 5 weeks that it will make a difference in how I look and feel:

30 minutes treadmill at 3.5MPH... 3 or 4 days a week
And then random jumping jacks, squats with 8lb weights, push ups, other toning exercises everyday throughout the day.. just kind of random

You can't tone muscles. You can get them to grow and then reduce your body fat percentage to make them look "toned". It takes a lot of hard work and dedication; it's not something you can just jump into

I'd look more to weight training than to cardio if you're looking to tone.

Which isn't that specific. There's a book called New Rules of Lifting for Women, or Stronglifts 5x5, or any weight training things that are accessable for beginners. Those will help tone a lot more than elliptical and other assorted things with little to no weight added.

Then you should ESPECIALLY look to weight training as opposed to primarily cardio ;)

I think you should either find a workout that is interesting enough to you that you'll want to do it consistently, or commit to workout because of what it will do for your body, regardless of whether you enjoy it.

I do a little of both. I picked a program based on the type of exercise I most enjoy (heavy lifting) and committed to doing it. When I'm not motivated I fall back on my commitment.

I don't think you're going to get significant results from the plan you've laid out. You might be able to lose 5 lbs. If you paired calorie deficit with a good progressive loading strength training program then you'd be starting to see good results in about that amount of time.

Oh, since it's your last 7 lbs it'll come off slower. In that case go for half a pound per week.

    What programme do you use?

I started with Stronglifts. Starting Strength and New Rules of Lifting for Women are also good programs.

Not going to happen, even if you lift weights for 5 weeks. Building muscle is a slow process. That being said, it would behoove you getting on a weight lifting program.

Download the JM 30 days shred from youtube (3 levels, you do each one for 10 days and then move to the next level). Do the treadmill in the morning and the shred in the afternoon or vice versa. You do not need to buy weights, just use water/soda bottles filled with water.
