Tops (taking off pounds sensibly)

Hello! Has anyone heard or is part of the group called tops? I have never heard of them till I watched a YouTuber I like talk about them. I guess they have meetings and talk about weight loss and healthy eating. I was on weight watchers in the past and lost 60lbs. The meetings I went to while on weight watchers really helped me stay accountable. I'm thinking this could really help me this time around. 🙃🙂🙃🙂

    Ha.

I used to work at a busy, popular bar/restaurant. Every Wednesday at 9PM a group of over-weight ladies came in and ordered a LOT of food. Turns out they were a group from a TOPS meeting and it was right after their weigh-in.

    That's all I've got.

If meeting-based weight loss is something that you've found helpful, I think you might like it. These ladies were a lot of fun. :)

My SIL attended Tops many years ago, it helped temporarily, as do most ways of changing a diet. I don't know if TOPS uses CICO or you do your own thing and the meetings are mainly for support? The only way I've been anywhere near successful is continually counting calories. :( No magic pill or formula. IF you need the social support of a group, it could work much better for you. I cannot remember much from when my SIL attended meetings. But if it fills a need of yours, I'm pretty sure there isn't anything controversial about it, such as having to stick to a certain diet or way of doing things.
    Good luck!!

IIRC, they acknowledge that weight loss is created by a calorie deficit, but it's an exchange program (you get a certain amount of things like protein, starch, and fat). The number of portions will vary depending on the calorie range you fall into, but you only count the portions of each -- not calories.

As organized weight loss plans go, it seems to be one of the more balanced ones. They're just selling the plan and the support -- there's no expectation that you buy a bunch of their pre-packaged foods or anything.
