Weight loss without exercise

I was wondering if anyone has not done exercise but counted calories and lost weight

Short Answer: Yes plenty of people here have.

Longer answer: It's not at all necessary to exercise to lose weight, you burn calories just by being alive and through non-exercise activity, as long as you eat fewer calories than you expend doing that (the calorie goal given to you when you go through the guided set up) then you will lose weight.

However, it's worth noting that cardio exercise (even if it's just walking) is a good idea for heart health and strength training will help with retaining muscle whilst you're losing fat and is also beneficial for improving bone density which is particularly important for women as we're at a higher risk for osteoporosis.

    Sure. Several times when injured.

Just have to eat less than you burn by a reasonable amount to lose fat weight.
Of course while injured I wasn't making it harder to heal by attempting a big diet loss rate.

Of course, I'd rather eat 2000 and burn 2500 with exercise, than eat 1500 and burn 2000 with none.
Even if it's the same weight loss, I'll sustain the former a whole lot easier than the latter.
