I’m back with another weird question. So a mate buys me a handheld game. We both nostalgic gamers so he got us both this device but I’m won’t really ever use it and wish he didn’t waste his money ($20) I was thinking of returning the item and to give him his money back and tell him I do appreciate the gesture. Is it thoughtful or rude of me?

Use it. Tell him what was the most fun. Share it. (Break room at work, kids in the neighborhood, nieces and nephews?) Other people will like it. Make the most of it. Tell him “thank you” and mean it.

Is he struggling with money, why do you think it’s worth potentially hurting feelings over $20?
Even if he was struggling, he chose to spend it on you to make you happy which probably in return makes him happy.

You know him better than me maybe he’s not that type to care. But I’d lie and hype it up, then donate it or share it.

No no no - you don’t regift back to the original gifter man - everyone knows That - you regift to another mate within the friend group - case closed

I try to be completely transparent and honest in regards to my friendships and relationships.

..... expect, of course, if it involves a girlfriend.
