TRIGGERED point therapy

Hi,

I've been using massage balls and a foam roller for the past 4 months now. They've helped reduce and, in some areas, remedy some slight aches in my hip. I used to watch a set of tapes for instruction while using them, I stopped watching because I feel I get the point it now, but recently I've developed some new nerve issues in the upper spine and in my brain itself. Weird, I know.

There is a part of the massage process that I added myself that targets the lower back specifically. Here I would lie down directly on the ball where the spine is and roll back and forth on the sides of the lower spine. I stopped doing that a few days back seeing that I experienced nerve issues. My nerves seem to be recovering now. Any thoughts? Similar experiences? Thanks.
