maintained (i.e. was below 77.5 kg, and mostly below 75 kg) from February 2015-July 2017; was then put on a medication and gained 2 kg in a month; went on sabbatical (away from scales; lots of conference meals); hit (peri-)menopause and lost track of things except to note that I was steadily gaining and back to 85/86 kg.
Lost to 81 kg at Easter 2020 (top of normal bmi for me), but then gained back to 88 kg in April/May (Easter egg binge; lock down closed the pool...).

Successes: My monthly average was very slightly up, but keeping my monthly average at goal weight +/- 0.1 kg looks like maintenance to me. I'm still getting used to not wanting the scale to go down, though. Setting mfp to lose 1kg/month and then eating a bit above that some days seems to be working for me as a strategy when the scale starts an upward trend. I am eating well, enjoying exercise and maintaining at my goal weight. This feels like a good place to be.5 -

Maintenance weight range: 65-75 kg (not sure what’s the right answer - been up and down in there numerous times in my life, apart from going way over 2010-2015).
I’d like to lose a bit to get back to 70 kg, but I’m still happy at around 75 kg.
I’m experimenting with seeing how my satiety levels are in relation to the types of foods I eat. Trying to eat more whole foods, which I’ve been getting pretty good at, and less sugar, and it’s going quite well.

Successes/struggles of the week: My weight appears to be stubbornly at the top of my range at the moment, although there have been a couple of lower weigh-ins. All of the sushi I had a couple of days ago kept my weight on the higher end. For this coming week, I have a couple of long walks planned, so hopefully I'll exceed my daily steps goal those days.5 -

Now that we can start to go out and about again it will be more challenging to keep my weight in check. I lost weight in the early months of this year when my son was so sick. Since his death and the funeral, I have been struggling to come to terms with the situation but I have put on weight, up to my goal of 49 – 50 kg. I have been away from home for a few short breaks and I have some more planned, so back to the CICO basics.

Back from vacation. I completed my first 50 mile ultra marathon. I also ate anything and everything I wanted with zero shame. Between that, taking a week off of exercise, and travel bloat, I was up 10 lbs yesterday. Already seeing big drops. And expect a few more “easy” lbs followed by the slow drop of the actual weight gain. We begin another cycle today as I start training specifically for the Chicago marathon.9 -

Struggles: It's the end of our academic year, exam boards, with a lot of complex calculations because of lockdown over the last year and a bit. I was up until the middle of the night checking spreadsheets, so was not surprised to be up at my weigh in this morning. However, my weight does seem to be drifting up bit so I need to take action to drift down again! I'm still in my wider maintenance range, but would really like to keep under 75.5 kg.

Successes/struggles of the week: My weight jumped up over the top of my range this past week, likely a combination of eating a lot of restaurant food (bbq, pizza, lots of desserts), as well as some stress this week. I'm bumping my daily steps goal up yet again and will also again add in extra calories to my estimates when logging restaurant food.
I did have some successes this week in my workouts though. I hit the milestone of lifting 200 lbs in barbell glute bridges this week, and also progressed to 100 lbs for deadlifts.4 -

Went from 113 to 115 in one day. It is interesting that a one day bump of two lbs. is less worrisome than a gradually several ounces daily gain over a couple of weeks. I do weigh myself daily to help to keep the focus so I know what is normal for me.3 -

Successes/struggles of the week: Still not pleased that my weight is still above my maintenance range, but it's a bit down from last week, so there's that. I got in quite a lot of steps this week, with two 16k step days in the middle of the week, and I'm currently at 19k steps today after a long walk to and from brunch.3 -

Things I’m watching:
I generally pop up 1-2 pounds with the first summer heat wave > 90 degrees, usually 2nd week in July. It came a month earlier this year. Sure enough, I’m up. Looking back I see I go up first heat wave & drop back first week of much colder weather in the fall.
My steps are lower, but I did turn that around by getting up early to walk or walking after dark the past few days!
One of my remaining habits that I need to figure out a solution for & practice is: Eating when in pain or really uncomfortable.
1) I am renewing my research on having A/C installed in our home. Summer temps are definitely increasing & they seem to effect me more each decade.
2) I always drink a lot of water, but I’m increasing that amount.
3) brainstorming something I can say to myself “I know you’re jot, but eating will only make you feel more hot”
4) List things I can do when it’s hot:
* Take a cold shower or bath
* Run cold water or hold a refrigerated can/ice pack on wrists or feet
* watch a show
* distract with hand stitching
* Call a friend/family member
* Go to safe, air conditioned place (can’t think of one with covid, but will keep mulling this over)
* Ask my friend if I can come swim at her house

Reflection: Trend is currently up (a bit). I am still exercising most mornings but due to the heat and pressures of work have been walking less (though weeding a lot more, but that clearly uses less energy, though the garden is looking good); I am not currently logging food but am probably also eating a bit more. This week I want to build a walk into my day. On the plus side, this time last year I weighed in at 85.3kg, so nearly 10kg more than today. Also I took photos this past week which show that I definitely have more muscle definition (some abs are showing!) though I'd still like to see some tightening up on my lower tummy and upper arms.0 -
