Yes I said it, Monte Cristo, that ham and turkey batter dipped, fried, sugar coated, add preserves for good measure greasy goodness. Also, it's one that items that appears so rarely on a restaurant menu that it's bound to be an temptation for me.

Such was the case yesterday when I checked out the menu for a place we would be eating dinner at. I did my research to find that half a Monte Cristo was 322 calories. Not exactly horrible considering what's in it and how it's cooked. Even better news, at best all I can ever eat is half. I kept my lunch light, held off on snacking. At the restaurant I had 2 glasses of wine, the half of the Monte Cristo with steamed veggies, and a few fried pickles.

Shocker.. I still came under my calories for the day AND I still posted a 2.4 pound weight loss this week.

My point? It can be done and you don't have to be a saint to do it. No, I wouldn't eat like that every meal, every day. But if you are eating boring grilled chicken, while everyone else around you is having something exciting and yummy all you will end up doing is resenting your weight loss goals. Enjoy your food, just be smart about how you enjoy it!

Totally agree! I personally love food, and I am soooo NOT going to stop enjoying the things I like. Moderation is key. Tomorrow when we are having all the yummy stuff at our party, I will enjoy a little bit of whatever I want. I will be doing a good workout in the morning to give myself those extra calories.

you can make it at home using french toast instead of bread battered and fried. it is not exactly the same but it is still really good. :)
