How many of us *ARE* living the dream?

Lovin' life and living the dream...
Essentially, for me, it's what many of you have already stated and I'd only
add that it's the delayed gratification as a result of a couple few decades
of hard work, and learning from stupid decisions, that makes every day nearly
perfect to me.
Just about each of what y'all wrote applies to me and why I'm living my dream.
Bought your dream house? Yep, check. Is it perfect? No, It's exactly where I
want to live but I want more land. I'll get it though... Delayed gratification.
Work your *kitten* off day in and day out only taking Sundays off for years at a time? Yep, check.
Fit, healthy, non-materialistic? Yep, check. Only time I am am not fit or feeling healthy
is when I go FBR and do something extremely stupid to myself. Like move an 800# fountain by
myself. I could buy anything I want but, neigh neigh moose breath. Some would call me frugal.
I'm just cheap about most things, pay for quality, and won't make snap purchases.
Do I love my career? Yep, check. Do I love my job? H E Double Hockey Sticks NO!
I hate my job. But, I put up with it because like someone else said, I'm respected. And, I get
to do whatever I want most of the time which affords me the opportunity to do what I really like;
whatever floats my boat at that moment in time.
Delayed gratification...
It's all about the delayed gratification. In comparison, life is relaxing and easy now.
I've gotten to do and see some of the coolest *kitten*, IMHO, that extremely few people get to
experience because of seemingly insignificant things I worked hard at decades earlier and I
wouldn't trade any of it for an easier life.
The best part... I can drop anything to go help ol' girl when her roof blew off, or who was pulled over
at the end of my drive changing a tire, or help ol' boy repair his mini-bike engine when he had it
ripped apart on the side of the road, or even just go sit at the gas station at closing time when
one of the young ladies is closing by her self and doesn't feel comfortable alone at 2200 going from
the building to her car.
And this, is why I'm lovin' life and living the dream each and every day. I guess because I get
to help people; many of them I have never met and probably won't again.6 -
Nope. Not really working towards it, either.2
