Could you clarify what your question is?
If I understand you correctly, maybe you used a bad entry for the oats that didn't have a value for iron -- a cup of unenriched dry oats should have somewhere between 5 and 10% of DV for iron, and if it's enriched or fortified, it might have more.

    You are using bad entries.
    • If you use "Cereals, oats, regular and quick, not fortified, dry," a half cup will give you 10% of your iron RDA.
    • If you use "Spinach - Raw," one cup will give you 5% of your iron RDA.
    • If you use "Spinach - Cooked, boiled, drained, with salt," one cup will give you 36% of your iron RDA.

Unfortunately, the green check marks in the MFP database are used for both USER-created entries and ADMIN-created entries that MFP pulled from the USDA database. A green check mark for USER-created entries just means enough people have upvoted the entry - it is not necessarily correct.

To find ADMIN entries for whole foods, I get the syntax from the USDA database and paste that into MFP.

    https://fdc.nal.usda.gov

The USDA changed the platform for their database in 2019 and it is unfortunately a little more difficult to use. I use the “SR Legacy” tab - that seems to be what MFP used to pull in entries.

Note: any MFP entry that includes "USDA" was USER entered.

That said, if you were not diagnosed with an iron deficiency, don't worry about any notices the app gives you about being low. I'm anemic and most of the USER-entered entries I've seen have incorrect iron values.

If you are concerned that you might have an iron deficiency, get tested and then get back to me :)

If you DO have a diagnosed iron deficiency, let's talk!
