Hi, I'm new here...

Well, this is my first day on MyFitnessPal. I hope to make some new friends as a result of joining. I have over 150 pounds to lose, and I'm trying not to get too overwhelmed about that goal. I've started walking and I'm up to about 20 minutes a day at a moderate pace. I'm looking forward to meeting people and learning from those who have been here a while. Thanks in advance for any advice you can give!

    Hey I'm new here too. I have 152 to lose and it is daunting and overwhelming but we'll both get there! Feel free to add me if you like.

    Hi, Amy!

    Welcome! This is a great place to find advice, information and support. I know it's overwhelming. I've lost 23 pounds and have 43 to go. The first place I started was logging EVERYTHING I eat. It was really enlightening to see how many calories I was taking in and how many of those were not necessary. If you have the patience and time for it, maybe invest in a food scale - there are lots for less than $20. Once you start weighing your food, you get an idea of what a realistic portion is. I no longer use mine all the time, because I can pretty much eyeball the portions now. But it took me many months to get there.
    Take it one day at a time.
    You can do this!
    If you want, feel free to friend me.

    Success =

    weighing/measuring/logging ALL the food you eat;
    measuring with a tape measure and not relying on the scale;
    taking pictures on the first day of every month;
    eating at a realistic and healthy calorie deficit;
    knowing what your TDEE, BMR & TDEG are and using them;
    finding exercise that you enjoy and so will continue to do;
    patience;
    patience;
    more patience;

    Good luck! :flowerforyou:

    Now, for my question...I know BMR, but am stumped on TDEE and TDEG, help!

    Thanks again,
