I'm getting careless

It's been a *kitten* month diet wise. I've eaten a lot of junk food and lost my focus on my goal. I was doing very well in April and May and had come out of 80s(kg) to 79 kg. I workout a lot and sometimes eat only salad for dinner but still the scale isn't moving. I'm so depressed. How do I get back to it??

I am facing some of the same challenges, seems junk and unhealthy food is EVERYWHERE and I can't avoid it. I know how you feel. I am going to make one change a day for 4 days and see if that helps. Then build on that with another change for 4 days. Keep me posted how you are doing!!5 -

I'm just basing this on the little you've shared, so I apologise if I'm presuming too much.
But perhaps it's better to avoid extremes? Eating a lot of junk food isn't good (easy to consume too many calories, aside from not being very nutritious), but 'only eating salad for dinner' seems too extreme on the other side of the spectrum (presuming you mean salad greens when you say salad).
Having looked at your diary, I'm seeing a lot of foods I'm not familar with (but sound really interesting to try ). But I'm wondering how accurate your logging is.
For example
- generic besan chilla, 3 cooked
- anand sambar 2 cup
- Generic - Dal Green, 100 g cooked
- Homemade - Moong Dal Cheela, 3 pc
Are these foods you prepared yourself, logged using the recipe builder (or Meals functionality)?
If not, they might be way off in their calorie count. Also, logging in 'pieces' and cups is unlikely to be very accurate, weighing is better. So you might be consuming more calories than you think and not losing weight because of that.
You don't need to go all extreme and only eat salad greens, you can still eat the foods you like. The more you deprive yourself, the more likely you'll give up. But you just have to be mindful of portion sizes and perhaps experiment to see if you can't tweak your existing diet, making lower calorie/more satiating substitutions for example, or perhaps adding salad greens and decreasing the portions of the higher calorie items.14 -
That is such perfect advice @Lietchi I'm from India and chillas are pancakes made of lentils flour. I eat lentils and legumes mostly and I do admit that I don't use a scale. Actually MFP is not all that great when it comes to logging indian meals that's why I eyeball my portion sizes. Isn't there any other way than just weighing? Is that the ultimate solution??2

A lot of more common Indian foods like Saag Chicken have various entries in the database which can be a close estimate. Not perfect but usually you can sort of guess whether the calories look correct.
Since so many Indian dishes are vegetarian it can be a low calorie way to eat if you avoid a lot of butter, oil, and ghee, and eat modest portions of starches like rice and naan. I often cook recipes from vahrehvah.com - the chef is from Hyderabad and has a focus on more healthy foods.

I don't weigh everything all the time. But since humans tend to be creatures of habit you can use that to your advantage. Weigh the constituent parts of a typical meal. Or better yet, decide how many calories your meal should be and then weigh out ingredients to find out what size they actually are. You might be surprised. Once you know roughly how big any constituent part should be you can work out roughly how many calories are in a restaurant meal, too. Obviously that is really tough for the fats, given you can't actually see how much oil/ghee they have used, but if you double what you might use at home it's probably a fair guess (unless you are very sparing, in which case triple it).
In terms of habit, for example, I have oats, nuts and yogurt with some fruit every day as a snack. I eyeball the portions. But every so often (maybe every 3 months) I pour out the constituents and then weigh, to see how far off I am. I used to drift quite far off (portions too big usually but not always) but now it is surprising how consistent I have become.

If your pancakes are anything like mine, no two are the same size. I would think weighing would be the best option for things like this. You could have 3 pancakes and all three are different sizes so the calories would be different. I could be wrong, but that seems to make sense to me.2
