Fear of gym

How do you all get over the fear at the gym? Or is it just me. I was at the gem to talk to a personal trainer and I was scared of all the people in there. They was all skinny and full of muscles. How do you get over the fear?

It's definitely intimidating! I just avoid eye contact, get my burn on and try not to think about it.

Don't worry about them. Do your business and what you have to do.

I don't have a fear of the gym, I have an irritation at trying to find parking or trying to find a free machine during the times I can go.

That being said, I ended up, at a friends suggestion, trying GaiamTV for 10 days and ended up subscribing. You can use it on your laptop, desktop, ipad or iphone or hook up through a Roku box or other device. I have a Roku so they come through my tv, but I also could have hooked up the computer to the tv.

I end up exercising more frequently and longer b/c I don't have drive to the gym, find a parking spot, etc (I used to be an aerobics teacher and I guess I've burned out on the hassle of being there). I'm also trying a bunch of different things on different days- Yoga, Pilates, different kinds of Cardio, etc.

Back to your fear of the gym, don't be scared of those people. You are all there to get fit. If they look down on you, they aren't people you want to know anyway. Most people are too busy worrying about their own workout to notice anyone else & if they do notice you, it's because you are in a the middle of a community of people who encourage and root for each other.

Don't judge a book by its cover. You would tell your kids the same thing.
