One soda a day

So I have restarted and restarted a million times on MFP. I've come to the conclusion that cutting out anything is just not an option for me. When I start to cut things out I start thinking of it as a diet and not a lifestyle change. Is it bad to have just one soda a day as long as I add it to my daily allowance? I keep reading that you need to cut it out completely to lose weight. Maybe I'll get to cutting it out eventually one day.

When you say soda do you mean cola? Do you drink the diet ones or full sugar ones? If you drink the diet ones I don't see a problem with drinking one a day.

As long as you have a caloric deficit everyday, (i.e. eat your calorie goal) you will lose weight. Soda or any other type of food/drink has no effect on fat loss.

This is of course provided you don't have a specific medical condition, such as insulin resistance ect.

cold turkey it when you want to stop drinking it.. that's the best way to stop having it. For me I just have water instead.

As for meeting your goal, it's calories in verses calories out..

You don't have to cut anything out to lose weight. You just need to maintain a healthy caloric deficit. As long as you have calories left after meeting your protein and fat macros, there is no harm is having that soda. The above links give a good explanation of the concept.

Don't have to cut it to lose weight, as long as you stay at or under the calorie goal.

However, As someone who grew up drinking nothing but soda, all day, everyday for roughly 18 years, and finally quit about two years ago (FOR GOOD) I would recommend to stop drinking it entirely.

I started with just one a day like you are now, and the more I drank other things, the less and less I liked the taste of soda, it just yucks up my mouth and tastes horrid to me now. And, once I stopped drinking it entirely, I lost weight, really fast. I found I lost quite a lot of weight just stopping drinking soda, even though soda was added to my calorie limit, and I still eat the same amount of calories.

After many attempts, I finally cut out diet soda 18 months ago and dropped 15 lbs in a month doing nothing else. Unfortunately I have gained that back. The only way I could cut my soda intake was to drop it completely. I was drinking 6-8 cans a day. Now I can't stand the taste of it and never crave it.

With that said.....with moderation, one a day shouldn't hurt you. My problem was I couldn't just do one.

So long as if fits in your calories and you don't have any insulin sensitivities and you're otherwise getting your proper nutrition, there's nothing wrong with it and won't hinder weight loss. I have about 2 or 3 "real" sodas per week on average and did so while I was losing. It was harder to fit it in when I was losing, but I managed when I really wanted one.

I quit drinking soda because it triggers cravings for junk food. And then It can spiral out of control .
    But that's for me.

If it fits your calories and you want it, drink it.
