Need motivation!!!

Here's alittle bit about me..I'm a single 30year old mom of 2 boys ages 10 1/2 & 11 1/2. I currently stay at home with m oldest who is homeschooled/home bound due to medical reasons. I also just started taking care of my niece and nephew who are 7 months& 3 yrs. my question is how do even begin to try and figure out a workout routine when I'm so busy throughout the day with taking care of kids...having different therapist coming in for my son ? I drop my niece and nephew off at 5:45 so by the time I get back home it's close to 6..I have a 2 hr window before bedtime for my boys which consist of ..homework,dinner,bathing,and bed routine..by the time it's all said and done its about 8:30pm and I'm DONE!! I then start my routine of shower..then relax in my recliner till its about 10:30 and then I go to bed....I've tried getting up at 5am but I was dragging and it made me even more tired throughout the day! I'm 176 ish lbs and I feel fat&miserable!! I'm so ashamed of myself because right after my youngest was born I went from 215- to 115 in 1 yr!! But after stress, attempting college, and the loss of loved ones and a relationship..I ate the stress away and well now I'm this!!

I've thought about diet pills, protein shakes etc..but really they do anything for me anyhow if I can't find time to workout ! I could stop taking care of my niece & nephew but honestly my brother couldn't afford $1000 a month in daycare anymore !

Any tips, advice etc...would be soooo greatfull!! I feel like fat house Kermit..trying to give everyone attention but losing myself!!!

Eating right is most of the battle. To exercise you may want to get some DVD's that you could do even with the kids around.
  • Hi,
I work as a child-carer, I look after 2 girls who are 4 and 1 and I know it is damn tiring and hard sometimes. I don't finish work at fixed time, sometimes I'm done at 6.30pm (the earliest) and sometimes I work till midnight (all extra hours extra paid, so worth doing so, at least until I get myself someone to spend the evenings with). I do yoga when the older one is at nursery (3 hours every morning) and the young one is asleep (but she only sleeps 45 minutes in the morning). And if I do finish at 6.30 I go for a swim. And I swim on the weekends. But that's really only enough to stay in shape. And I have put on weight a lot recently, so I needed a diet. I have tried Slim Fast and Herbalife before and they worked but t his time I came across Exante and I did a deep research and decided to try it. It's my 6th day and I already feel great and maybe it's my imagination but the dress I wore today already felt a tiny little bit less tight. I found a video diary posted on youtube by a girl called Lucy Dee, she posted a video every week and you can really see her shrinking. She was losing between 1 and 3 kg every week. It really motivated me. Maybe you should think about it too?
  • I know it has been hard for you but it sounds like a morning workout would best for your schedule. It isn't easy at first but once you are committed the benefits are amazing and you with feel wonderful! I work full time and am a mother of 3, so I know how hard it is to find time, that is why I just knew I HAD to start my routine in the morning. But once you get into the routine your days get so much easier because you have already taken time out to take care of yourself. I started out my weight loss journey at 183, I am now at 152 and my journey is definitely not over! I am not going to lie and say it was easy but I am forever grateful that I stuck with it! Best of luck to you :-)

I have 4 kids. You just make the time. There are days I get up at 4am to get my workout in. When I worked I got up at 3am. IF you want it, YOU make it happen.

Sounds like at 830 you have some time. OR you can get up earlier.
  • Sounds like you're pretty busy as it is. So why not start with diet instead of workouts?

Your TDEE is about 2140 calories a day. (The amount of calories you need to get through your day)

So why not try eating about 1700 ish calories a day.

The 400 calorie per day difference should have you losing weight in a healthy way that won't demand more of your time.

Try to get in exercise while watching the kids, maybe take walks to the park and walk around while the kids play, put on music and dance around with the kids, put on cartoonz for the kids and run in place, do squats, jumping jacks, crunches, planks, maybe have contests with the kids who can do the most jumping jacks, or do 10 squats everytime you go to the bathroom.good luck
