Food choices - what works for you?

I am looking at the meal plans here on this site. There is high protein and also low carb. I’ve never tailored my eating other then to cut way down on sweets and eating more fruits/veggies. It’s healthy but my progress is slow. Has anyone tired any of the plans on this site (or others)? How did it work for you?

    This may or may not help you but I eat what I want...just not as much as I want. :) Then figure out "well, this keeps me full, this tastes good and is worth the calories, etc". I stayed within my allotted calories, weighed foods because I can't trust my eyes and stomach to be in agreement and it worked well for me! :)

    You should also probably define "slow" because sometimes people are their own worst critics.

    Thanks, it’s good to see your perspective. I portion everything.. I think after some time I’ll have a better idea of proper portion sizes but for now I’m strict about quantifying.

    . . . but I've never been very good with following a bunch of rules or prescriptions that I see as nonessential complications. I think good overall nutrition is important, and reasonable calories are important. Beyond that, it's all just personal preferences, IMO.
