Hi there!
I have a high cholesterol diagnosis and I’m trying to manage my diet in MFP.
Can someone help me how to set my goals in the app, so that I can log my foods?
Preferably in the free version ;)
TIA
Jewles

I think you have to change Goals on the web version and then it syncs to your app the next time you log in.

Go to MY HOME > Goals

    direct: https://www.myfitnesspal.com/account/my_goals/micronutrients

Learn a little more about the myth of dietary cholesterol before wasting a lot of time making your numbers look good. Hint: there is no proven causal link between dietary cholesterol and arterial plaque.

You said you wanted to change your Cholesterol setting. You would do that if and when your medical team tells you to limit your foods that contain cholesterol.

There's no need to fiddle with the other micronutrients, they are set at defaults based on generally accepted guidelines from the USDA.

I would focus on the types of fat: limiting unsaturated fats and increasing healthy fats (mono and polyunsaturated fats).

MFP sets a goal for saturated fats automatically (maximum amount) which seems quite reasonable to me. There is no recommended intake for unsaturated fats, so MFP gives a goal of 0: ignore the red numbers, the more the better 😉 (without crowding out protein and carbs of course).
