Work change has me worried

I changed from an active job where I got 12-15k steps per day, to a desk job! Luckily there is a gym next door and I have been working out 5 days per week since day 1. I also got a desk converter, so that I don’t have to sit all day. I weighed 112 when I started in April and I now weigh 115. I want to believe it is muscle gain alone, but am not sure. I run 2 miles Monday, Wednesday, and Friday and lift Tuesday and Thursday. If I get too worn down or my foot hurts, I switch to lifting three days per week. I have been active and fit since my 20th birthday. I took up running in November when the local HS got a new cushioned truck. It is too hot to run outside now. I just started logging my meals on this app and hope to stay at 115.
Good luck everyone on your fitness journey!

I am overweight and not in shape enough for active jobs, so I have only ever worked desk jobs. People who work active jobs tell me “Must be nice to just sit on your butt all day” but they don’t understand that it’s actually exhausting. I hit a slump after lunch and need a nap so bad. A lot of coffee to get through the day!

You do get used to the sitting but then the gym can feel like quite a shock. I can’t wake up early enough to exercise before work, and after work I am too tired and just want to lay down. When I have forced myself to walk after work, it’s hard to get started. Ease into the exercise so you don’t just go from sitting all day to fill out exercise. Your body needs to adjust.

Make sure you wear comfortable clothes or your butt will be sore sitting for 8 hours. Comfy leggings are a girl’s best friend. :)

I work in an office in a 10-storey office building. There is a group of us who climb stairs - we make a goal for each month. Last month, I did 450 flights of 20 stairs up ... and down plus landings, and I'm on track to do it again this month.

This keeps me from sitting for 8 hours.

I also go for a walk every lunch ... or sometimes a run!

Then my husband and I try to exercise (walking, running, cycling, rowing, etc.) just about every evening and weekend.
