Hi

I am 220lbs (15st 10lb) and MFP had me on 1510 calories a day. I put my activity as sedimentry and to loose 1lb week which I have been loosing. Then last night my calories were put down to 1480 a day. My hubby thnks it might be geting to low for I still want to loose another 42lb (3st). Does anybody else think this is right. I would be grateful for any advice.

I much prefer this over the MFP method

Keep in mind that with MFP if you workout at all, you're supposed to eat the exercise calories back.

As you lose weight, you need fewer calories, so it's normal for your target to drop when you update your diet/fitness profile after losing weight. I'm currently under 180 lbs. and am using the sedentary activity level (I log exercise separately) and, with 1.5 lbs./week selected, my daily target is 1370.

    1480/day sounds about right.

    Congratulations on your loss!

MFP re-evaluates your caloric needs every few pounds (every 10, I think). As you lose weight, you require fewer calories to keep your body going. So, in order to continue to lose 1 bl/wk, your daily calories need to drop a little bit.
You can readjust that amount back to 1510 cal/day in your settings but you won't be set to lose 1 lb/week anymore.

I'm using Scooby's site for the daily calories I need for maintenance and it's working really well. I didn't know about this site when I was losing so I can't compare it with MFP's goals. Through MFP, I lost an average of 1 lb/week by following their guidelines. MFP set my goals too low for maintenance, though, and I kept on losing.
