I've read two types of review for 30DS -

    Positively glowing
    and
    Blew my knee out

Given how many positive reviews there are, my guess is the 'blew my knee out' crowd were doing it with poor form, but I would say this should be a warning sign for you.

You probably should refrain from running, jumping jacks, squats etc until your knee feels better. As you mentioned there are other exercises that do not bother your knee, stick to those for a couple weeks and give your knee time to heal and them work them in slowly and see how it goes

Working through the pain will only cause more harm than good.

    Good luck!!!!

Coming from a person who has the threat of a hip replacement, and who has had 4 on the left leg knee surgeries, now wearing a brace on the right leg... STOP!!!!! Injuries from being an athlete and listening to everyone about the pain and not a doctor.

If anyone gives you any other advice DO NOT listen to them unless they are an Orthopedic specialist with MD behind their names. Ice is your friend! RICE - rest, ice, compression, elevation...

No disrespect certifications don't count go to a doctor. Wish you the best!

How old are your shoes might be time to replace them. Also rest a few days walk and do hatha yoga ( i use youtube yogtastic) dont stop completly or it could make it longer to recover. When you do go back to it watch your form closely! Maybe you are over training if so do that maybe every other day and do something low impact on the off days like swimming or just walking until you build up.

I know nothing about 30DS but I would first see an ortho or sports specialist. They're more likely to get to the bio-mechanical cause of the problem. Most injuries can be worked around and rehabbed rather easily. Most of the time it's tight muscles that need regular stretching, or a muscle weakness/imbalance.

General doctors will just tell you to take it easy and prescribe an anti inflammatory.

I switched to weights and now can squat 130lbs for up to 10x5 because of proper form.
I still have a torn ligament and meniscus, for which I'll be having surgery on next month, but, I am not in pain and do not experience any swelling with lifting and good form.

Best thing for your knees ever! Heavy, deep full range of motion squats.

The number one thing you should do is go to a running store and have your feet and stride analyzed (they do this for free). Then they will recommend the shoe you need. There are 3 basic types of runners: Pronators, supinators and neutrals. If you don't have the correct shoes, it will put your entire leg out of alignment and cause pain and long term damage.

    Best of luck!

This. But don't do 30ds in running shoes, they don't offer any lateral support when doing jumping jacks or other moves. Find training shoes that offer similar support to the running shoes the running store recommends.

I would probably wait a few days and see if the pain subsides. If it does I would start to exercise again but maybe not as intense as before. I would probably also take a supplement that helps with joints.

If the pain persists or returns as soon as you start exercising again I would make an appointment with your doctor.

    This.
