Why don't you get calories for strength training? I do at least 20 minutes strength training as part of my workouts and can't understand why this doesn't count towards calories burned.

Cardio > Strength training
However, the amount of calories burnt on MFP is complete rubbish.0 -

You don't burn a ton f calories strength training. That is not the purpose of strength training...you actually burn more calories repairing your body in the 48 hours or so after your strength training than you do actually lifting...that is, if you're actually doing a strength program.
Strength training is an important aspect of overall fitness, preserves LBM, and makes you look better in the end vs. ignoring your muscles.0 -
depending on how hard, what you are lifting you do burn during, but you'd need a HRM to guess how much. That is what I do. I log my strenghth training cals as well as my cardio, but I sweat the WHOLE time, my heart rate stays up!
In general you don't burn a ton DURING....you are building muscle! The more muscle you have the more calories you burn naturally ALL day long! I hear you keep burning extra calories days after, as your body heals as well! It's about WAY more than just toning as you lose! My main focus right now is strength training and building muscle, with cardio as a second, because in the long run, the stronger I am the better I'll beable to burn!0
