Hi!

I am in my mid-forties and have struggled with my weight my whole life. I binge eat, I have body image issues, suffer with depression and anxiety, and have high blood pressure. Basically, I'm a mess but also like many other people! I've tried fad diets and have always gained the weight back. This COVID cluster-**** has caused me to eat more than ever before and gain weight to the tune of about 70 pounds since February 2020. I thought by being vaccinated this would all be behind us now but along comes the delta variant to kick our butts. Here I am still working from home and eating like the crops are going to be cursed with a swarm of locusts.

My therapist says I'm not going to get anywhere if I just focus on the end result (goal weight) and use self-hate as a motivator. What?! That sounds like a lot of crazy talk to me but she's the expert and my way hasn't worked so screw it, let's try it her way.

So I'm looking for a wellness accountability partner(s) not just a let's-lose-weight-as-quickly-as-we-can partner. It includes calorie counting and exercise but it also includes body acceptance, water intake, mindfulness, enjoying the journey, and all the other things well-adjusted people do.

As you can see, I use humor to mask my unhappiness. I'm uncomfortable in the body both mentally and physically. I feel like crap when I overeat both mentally and physically too. So, what I'm hoping to do is create a different way of life. One a little less crappy. It's like MyFitnessPal, Headspace, and Atomic Habits all in one.

Of course, everybody's journey is different so yours may not include the exact same things as mine but I don't think someone who is looking to lose 20 pounds in 6 weeks is the type of person that would benefit me (and vice versa).

The start of my journey is something like this:
- drink 96 oz of water a day
- do 5 minutes of mindfulness a day
- eat a healthy breakfast with fruit
- daily check-in with a partner to keep us on track (weekly is too long to go for me)

If this sounds like something you would benefit from, friend me. We can talk through here, whatsapp or whatever the kids are using these days.

Oh and I swear. Like a lot but MyFitnessPal won't let me.

Lol, I swear a lot too. I started my journey towards a healthier lifestyle about a month ago, and just this week was hit with how much of it is a mental shift, being deliberate with my choices, and finding the strength to advocate for myself.

I started super slow. First week was exercising for 10 minutes a day, then have been adding 5 minutes every week. I started tracking my calories which I have never done before. The first day I almost convinced myself not to log some items, and then I realized the only person that it matter to is me and why would I lie to myself?

I definitely started this to lose weight, but my overall goal is to be the best me I can be, lol (cheesy, I know). I am going to send you a friend request :-)
