I’m here for the free food- joking

I am new to Fitness Pal but used to tracking food and exercise as I find it works real well for me. I joined a group that requires almost daily check ins and I hope that encourages me too. My aha moment was when I learned I can eat almost anything I want but in a one serving size. It works, but I have most trouble with spaghetti it’s my fav! Life is for living and moving. Cheers!

    Hi, and welcome!

One of my recent adoptions has been red lentil spaghetti, especially the Barilla brand. It's a different color, but will cook to a nice al dente, has a similar neutral flavor to regular pasta, but several times the amount of protein. I don't know about you, but that makes it easier to fit some pasta into a reduced-calorie, high nutrition goal, vs. standard wheat spaghetti. A serving of that, with lots (lots!0 of nice veggies and protein of choice, is pretty yum.

    Wishing you great success!

I have tried chick pea pasta also. But sometimes I have to just do the usual spaghetti dreamfields…thanx fur suggestion, have you ever tried the spaghettis squash as spaghetti meal, it’s also very good. I follow a weightwatchers recipe.

Spaghetti squash is delicious, but if you tuck into a bowl of the stuff expecting it to be "just like real spaghetti," you will be disappointed. You gotta approach the squash where it is and appreciate it for what it is. It does not and will never taste like spaghetti, it does not have anything close to the same texture, the experience of eating it is not at all comparable to actual noodles of any kind beyond "bowl full of long thin pieces of food eaten in clumps." It does taste good, even/especially when mixed with a nice ragu and a sprinkle of cheese; it just tastes like squash coated in tomato sauce and cheese, not spaghetti per se. It's better to think of it as "____-flavored/____-style spaghetti squash" rather than "spaghetti-squash ____," be it pasta, lasagna, tacos, chili, breakfast burritos, whatever you're topping/mixing your spaghetti squash with.
