Good Morning Team! Today I want you to focus on Goals. The difference between a Goal and a Dream is a DEADLINE.... The way you make a deadline is by first being REALISTIC!! Sure you want to lose 50(or more) lbs.. But lets focus on 1. YES ONE, UNO, SINGLE, SOLO, ONE POUND! I want you to focus on losing One pound by next Sunday morning.. Don't look at anything else. Write it down. Post it, Get DRY ERASE MARKERS and put it on your mirror. One Pound... And then next week, yup we'll do it again.... Guess what ? by the first of next year?? DON'T even think about it!!! Just get yourself one pound for now! and remember....#IBelieveinYOU.
#TodaysTrack to start your day moving??
"Man Size Love" Klymaxx Now put on those buds, crank it up and get this day going!!

I love this!!! One pound is definitely a realistic goal.0

The pound will come off on it’s own schedule.
Be consistent. Count your calories. Be consistently under your calories by a reasonable amount, not a drastic amount.
Keep at it.
The pound will come off when it is ready.

I type what works for me.. In order to try HELP OTHERS. Maybe you should consider this before you pop my balloon. I wish you a good day!0
-
But what if that one pound doesn’t come off by Sunday?
A person does everything they can think of, then steps on the scale on Sunday to find they’ve lost nothing. Or perhaps even gained a couple ounces.
Then what? Potential feelings of defeat. Maybe even giving up?
Weight loss is not linear. And losing a pound of fat very well may be hidden in water weight gain from stress, a little extra sodium, etc.
I am not trying to “pop your balloon”
I am attempting to point out something that isn’t quite as helpful as you think it might be.5 -
Thanks I needed this I will try,2

Wow..... You should remember the title of this board Margaret. Motivation and support. I've been around since 2011. You? June. Now quit pissing on my parade and do you!1

Just because something works for you, doesn't mean it will work for someone else. If you didn't come across as "this is fact" and instead "this is what worked for me, maybe it will work for you also" you wouldn't get so much pushback. A lot of what you post is incorrect. It's great you want to try to motivate people, but make sure if you are going to state something as fact, make sure it actually is factual.

I'd love to try and lose 1 pound by Sunday. Count me in to try.1

Mom22 Please show me what I posted that wasn't factual so I can cite my sources?? On second thought never mind. It's not worth my time. I'm not gonna post anymore... Cheers!! You win!0

I was active on another site.
A site I would still be on if they hadn’t chosen to shut down.
I have been unfailingly polite to you here. There was no need to get aggressive.
You’re passing around BroScience and some bad advice. That’s not helping anyone.
If you want to help people, you need to give them proper information. And one bit of proper information is that scale measured fat loss is not linear. Fluctuations are to be expected.6 -
Oh. And here is why I am saying it is not helpful to tell someone to set a goal of losing one pound by Sunday.
Is it possible? Sure.
Can someone very easily choose an unhealthy method and drop a couple pounds practically overnight? Sure. Not advisable, but sure. It is possible.
HOWEVER if you want to encourage healthy weight management, it’s best to focus on healthy techniques. Which means encouraging people to not worry so much about what the scale says day-to-day, but to focus on what the long term trend is.
Because weight loss is not linear.

Oh. And I’m past 60 pounds weight loss.
Since February.
I did it by counting calories.
Accurately.
And keeping my weekly calorie intake below my weekly calorie expenditure.
Because that’s how it works
Even with my kitten thyroid.
And my disability that makes it hard to walk (thus giving me a lower daily caloric burn than the average person)
AND?
I’ve had ice cream. Probably twice a week.
And cookies - just not the whole box.
And steak.
And garlic pork ribs dripping in golden fat.
My song for the day?
“Goodbye Earl” Dixie Chicks.
Cranking’ it up on the ol’ Bluetooth boom box and heading off to enjoy my day.
