Just saying hello to everyone. I was formerly a member of sparkpeople and since they closed the website, I have joined this community. I have been battling weight issues for as long as can remember. The last 3 years I decided to focus on eating healthier since I will be retiring soon. I enjoy working out so for me the key was getting the diet under control. By focusing on my eating the last 3 years I have dropped 50 lbs and I hope the tools on this site will continue my weight loss and health gains.

Congratulations on your great success so far: 50 pounds is excellent, and that slow and steady route is a good way to find the habits that help keep lost pounds off long term.
I'm an already-retired person so probably older than you (I'm 65). You may find that in retirement you may have more time to have fun being active, and to focus even more on tuning up your healthy eating. I was already active pre-retirement, too (but overweight/obese). Like you, weight loss for me was more about changing on the eating side (portions, proportions, frequencies of foods, mostly). But having more flexibility in retirement has led to me doing more fun active things, spending time at farmers markets getting new veggies/fruits to try, etc.
If you're hoping to reconnect with other Spark folks, there are several groups and threads going where they're active, such as
https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/group/140805-spark-people-friends
. . . but if you're open to engaging with other MFP-ers, you might enjoy the Fitness & Exercise part of the Community here, direct link is:
https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/fitness-and-exercise
If you're a strength training enthusiast specifically, most of that discussion is in Gaining Weight and Bodybuilding, here:
https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/goal-gaining-weight
(I understand that you're losing, not gaining, but most of the lifting technical stuff is there, even for those still running a calorie deficit.)
There are also a bunch of fun fitness challenge groups from very structured to pretty casual in Challenges:
https://community.myfitnesspal.com/en/categories/challenges
I hope you'll dive into the community, add your enthusiasm, and maybe gain some new ideas/inspirations.
Wishing you much success with MFP!0 -
Lots of former Spark People people here.
I was on Spark People for years, and I miss it for sure.
MFP takes a bit of getting used to, but there really is something for everyone here. No spinning wheel, though.
There are three Spark People groups here. All good spots.
